Land and Sea Paintings

The focus of this art workshop will be the paint application and colors of the California Impressionists. Practice with catching and reflecting the light of our local mountains and ocean by quickly applying layers thick paint to create your work of art.

All supplies and light refreshments for each workshop are included in the cost. A break for lunch and relaxed discussion will occur midday. Please bring your own bagged lunch or feel free to visit one of the restaurants close by on our provided list.

Adventures in Drawing

Using a variety of wet and dry techniques inspired by Realism, Idealism, and Abstraction, this art workshop will help you build on your drawing skills! Each drawing will “tell a story” or reflect poetry in your own way.

All supplies and light refreshments for each workshop are included in the cost. A break for lunch and relaxed discussion will occur midday. Please bring your own bagged lunch or feel free to visit one of the restaurants close by on our provided list.

In this meet-and-greet with David Adey, learn about his enveloping exhibition Sacrificial Bodies. David will lead a brief tour of the gallery sharing about his inspirations and artistic journey. Questions are encouraged, and attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy tea in the lobby with the artist following the program.

Celebratory Food Paintings

Create luscious, textured food paintings in this art workshop! Inspired by paintings of the past, from Dutch Baroque banquet paintings to Wayne Theobald's opulent high-key paintings, you will use heavy paint mixed with modeling paste to create your own culinary delight on canvas.

OMA's Artist Alliance serves as an affiliated membership group accessible to OMA members at any tier for an extra annual fee of $25 per person. This alliance fosters interaction, visibility, and professional growth for artists within the region. OMA holds a number of events that either feature Artist Alliance members’ artwork (both on-and-off-site exhibitions), are exclusive to Artist Alliance members (i.e. Artist Alliance Biennial), or offer free or discounted admission. This is an especially fun one! Bring in photographs of your favorite furry beasts and draw and paint them in a unique background inspired by famous paintings of animals at this art workshop.
