For several centuries, artists have ventured outside the studio to capture the evanescent effect of natural light. Join Jean Stern, director emeritus of The Irvine Museum, for an exciting overview of the history and artistic legacy of painting en plein air, from its early beginnings in the 16th and 17th centuries to the growing cultural phenomenon that exists around the art form today. Taking an in-depth look at the challenges and important innovations that mark the evolution of outdoor painting, this comprehensive presentation will highlight celebrated plein air painters, from early mavericks to present-day masters, as well as the joyful experience of painting in the great outdoors.
Plein Air Festival members receive a 25% discount. Discount will apply at checkout when using the discount code you received after registering for the festival.
