Be inspired by newly installed indoor and outdoor sculpture on display at OMA to create your own 3-D work of art! Join Robin Douglas for a hands-on exploration of a variety of methods and materials, highlighting the diverse approaches of several artists including Faith Ringold’s soft sculpture, Marisol Escobar’s segmented objects, and Louise Nevelson’s geometric abstract architectural forms. All supplies for your original artwork will be provided, but feel free to bring in additional materials or found objects you wish to work with as well. Limited space is available. This event will be held onsite at OMA in compliance with CDC, state, and county guidelines. In landscape painting, the inclusion of growing things—trees, shrubs, grasses—punctuate and invigorate the composition and immediately strengthens the particularities of place. Join Plein Air Festival featured artist Margaret Larlham for a half day of artistic reflection with a renewed focus on the diversity of indigenous plants and the limitless connections they draw for California plein air painters. Open to painters of all skill levels and media, learn about Larlham’s unique use of pastels and process, and be inspired to capture the character within even the most overlooked elements of the natural world.

Taking an in-depth look at the challenges and important innovations that mark the evolution of outdoor painting, this comprehensive presentation will highlight celebrated plein air painters, from early mavericks to present-day masters, as well as the joyful experience of painting in the great outdoors.
