“Experimental Multi-Media Materials”

Bring in found or discarded objects and give them an artistic life with stencils, modeling paste, paint, flora, or fabrics added to them. Many unique materials will be provided to create an eclectic art object.

A break for lunch and a relaxed discussion will occur at midday. Please bring your own bagged lunch or feel free to visit one of the restaurants close by on our provided list.

Paint the cute umbrellas and Victorian architecture, guests enjoying their pie, the steers views, or the nearby pier views. Free parking at the lot at the corner of Seagaze and S Cleveland drives or metered street parking. Public restrooms available nearby at the pier.

Whether you're a seasoned plein air painter or just starting your artistic journey, this event is for you! Beginners and experienced painters can find fresh inspiration in the urban and natural landscape.

How to Participate:

2. Bring your painting supplies, easel, and canvases. Don't forget sunscreen and a hat for the California sun!

This is a non-instructional event. Paint to your heart's content and enjoy the dynamic surroundings.

All levels of experience are encouraged to participate. OMA provides food, drinks, and supplies; all you have to do is get yourself out of work, grab your friends, and have fun!

FREE | Relax over a steaming cup of coffee while engaging in lively conversations with local fellow artists and explore the captivating exhibitions at OMA for free. OMA's Artist Alliance extends a warm invitation to sculptors, painters, photographers, and artists of all backgrounds to join in the experience.  

Join Artist Alliance from home or wherever you are with refreshments of your choice, and enjoy some conversation with fellow artists! Sculptors, painters, photographers, and artists of all disciplines are welcome. Take part in this conversation via a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Content Advisory: This is a supportive peer group for artists of all experience levels, engaging with a broad range of subject matter, including but not limited to: artificial intelligence, anime, landscapes, various forms of sculpture, photography, portraiture, figurative work, LGBTQ themes, sexuality, politics, and war. Because the artwork and discussions may include mature or sensitive content, participants under the age of 18 must either be accompanied by a parent or guardian or have explicit guardian permission to attend. If any participant—adult or underage—prefers to avoid potentially triggering content, we are happy to accommodate by scheduling their presentation earlier in the session to allow for a timely and respectful departure.

“Figure Drawing and Painting"

Life drawing can be successful with so many styles and techniques. Real, abstract, and/or ideal figures can create emotional responses with the addition of color. Create several figure studies before painting a final piece of art.

A break for lunch and a relaxed discussion will occur at midday. Please bring your own bagged lunch or feel free to visit one of the restaurants close by on our provided list.

10 artists, one artwork per artist, will be selected for the critique by jurors Paul Ecdao, Co-owner/Curator of Thumbprint Gallery; LA-based Art Manager and Dealer Billy Gross; and Rokhsane Hovaida of California Center for the Arts, Escondido. These three jurors will also run the in-person session.

Register to view and ask questions at OMA's second Juried Critique session. Art lovers and artists curious about the process of a professional critique are encouraged to attend the session for free as observers. The critique will be followed by a moderated audience Q&A session. Audience members will learn just as much from the feedback given by the professional jurors as those who were selected for the critique.

Note: Registering for this event is not the same as submitting your artwork for consideration to be critiqued.

Submit your work here for a chance to be featured as one of our 10 selected artists. This in-depth and constructive critique is aimed at full time professional artists. Artists are invited to submit 3-5 works for consideration along with their professional portfolio website or social media account.

OMA's Artist Alliance serves as an affiliated membership group accessible to OMA members at any tier for an extra annual fee of $20 per person. This alliance fosters interaction, visibility, and professional growth for artists within the region. Plant, play, and paint flowers, succulents, leaves, gardens, ponds and forests. Actual plant life may be incorporated into the paint. Create your own colorful tactile landscape.
