Two-Day Workshop: Painting With Multi-Level Images
MONDAY & WEDNESDAY, JULY 12 AND 14
Combine multiple layered images with an extra elevated painting hovering above to create a work of art with a sense of dimension, mystery, and elegance. Explore this technique with Robin Douglas and guest artist Kathleen Kane-Murrell whose illuminated work is currently on display in OMA’s exhibition Twenty Women Artists: NOW. All supplies for your original artwork will be provided.

Taste of Art: The Abstract World of Hilma af Klint
Explore the abstract inner world of the first artist to depict total abstraction, Hilma af Klint. Born in Sweden, her body of work was undiscovered for years but laid the foundation for cutting edge Surrealism, Symbolism, and Mystic Spiritualism. Join Robin Douglas for an immersion into af Klint’s otherworldly depictions of imaginative scientific systems and emotive and analytic mark making while enjoying drinks and appetizers. All supplies for your original artwork will be provided.

2021 Plein Air Festival
Artists of all skill levels are invited to come paint in the open air this summer. Oceanside offers gorgeous coastlines, charming cityscapes, peaceful lagoons, rolling hills with lush flora and fauna, and the historic Mission San Luis Rey, among other visual splendor to capture on canvas or media of your choosing. There will be a number of opportunities to sell artwork as well as submit for awards consideration and the possibility to be juried into an exhibition at OMA August 1-October 10. First Friday Art Walk At OMA West At The Seabird
Join us during First Friday Art Walk for the opening of OMA West At The Seabird. The inaugural exhibition at our new annex gallery located inside The Seabird Resort highlights works from the permanent collection of Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) that celebrate the natural and built environments found in the open air along the Pacific coast. Exploring the trajectory of Southern California painting from the plein air tradition to contemporary pop-surreal, this exhibition features artwork by Gibson Byrd, William Glen Crooks, Jean de Paul, Jeanne Dunn, Charles Arthur Fries, Raul Guerrero, Ruth Jameson, Vereara Maeva-Taripo, Lee Peterson, Scott W. Prior, Ernest Silva, and Jen Trute.

First Friday Art Walk: Music At The Museum With The Shane Hall Trio

Having spent a good deal of time in the south of France, his ability to create serene coastal landscapes would have been the perfect fit for painting Oceanside in all its natural beauty. In anticipation of OMA’s upcoming Plein Air Festival, join Robin Douglas for a short presentation focused on this legendary painter and be inspired to create your own masterpiece using vital brushstrokes with soft colors to capture our rich surroundings. Two-Day Workshop: The Joy Of Nature
MONDAY & WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7 AND 9
Drawing inspiration from three master painters of nature, Vincent Van Gogh, Georgia O’Keeffe, and David Hockney, join Robin Douglas to explore their distinct styles and shared love for outdoor scenery and majestic landscapes. Be inspired by Van Gogh’s rich, thick repetitive brushstrokes, O’Keeffe’s smooth, organic transitions, and Hockney’s playful colors and shapes to create your own unique painting. In anticipation of OMA’s upcoming Plein Air Festival, celebrate the joy of nature with a splash of creativity! All supplies for your original artwork will be provided.
