With the Plein Air Paint Out on hold for the time being, everyone can continue painting with the Plein Air Paint In! Open to artists at any level—paint the world through your window, in your backyard, or from your studio during the event’s usual time. Afterward, join OMA’s Artist Alliance with a rejuvenating drink of your choice for virtual Coffee and Conversation to share your work.
SmallTalk: The Roots Of Our Troubled Present
Conceived by art historian and former San Diego Union-Tribune art critic Robert L. Pincus, this SmallTalk will explore his longstanding interest in the way the present-day shortcomings, problems, and crises in society—from racist police practices to xenophobic attitudes toward immigrants to the intrusion of religious beliefs into politics—are rooted in the past. Join Pincus as he moderates a Socratic discussion with artists Alanna Airitam, Debby and Larry Kline, and Marcos Ramírez ERRE on the relationship between art and pressing social and cultural issues of the moment as well the history of those issues.

Coffee With A Collector: Hugh Davies
A well-curated collection of artwork can be a work of art in its own right. Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego’s director emeritus Hugh Davies joins OMA’s executive director Maria Mingalone over a cup of coffee as they chat about the purpose and joy behind building a world-class collection of art. These two pillars of the San Diego art scene will deconstruct their personal motivations to collect, offering wisdom and encouragement to those inspired to grow collections of their own from OMA’s Art Auction.
