Night Of The Living Art: An Art After Dark Fashion Extravaganza

Art After Dark has been reimagined this year as a virtual experience. Gather with those on your quarantine list and celebrate Halloween with a visual spectacle of wearable art that is equal parts art, fashion, and fun! Enjoy an eclectic fashion show live-streamed from the museum, complete with commentary and behind the scenes peeks at the road to the runway. In addition to voting on favorite looks, bidding on coveted must-haves will be available.

Taste Of Art: A Splash Of Color With Joan Mitchell

“How do you start a painting? Let feeling be your guide.” Joan Mitchell’s work put feelings on the canvas and allowed the public to experience nature, emotions, and color in a new way. Lose yourself in the emotive process of abstract expressionist painting. Join Robin Douglas for a brief lecture, followed by a hands-on workshop where we will be immersed in color, texture, and a variety of techniques. All supplies for your original artwork will be provided.



Members $40, Visitors $50

Taste Of Art: Reinventing Fiber Arts

Fiber art has endured through the centuries, consistently reinventing itself in both medium and technique. Using a variety of soft materials, come intertwine and intersperse fibers to create three-dimensional works of art. Be inspired by artists such as Ruth Asawa, Nick Cave, Magdalena Abakanowicz, and El Anatsui whose work is shown here to weave, knit, stitch, and sew your creations. In association with OMA’s exhibition Southern California Contemporary Quilts, join Robin Douglas for a brief lecture followed by a hands-on workshop where we will develop fibrous and textural creations. All supplies for your original artwork will be provided.

Scarecrow Making Workshop

Feeling creative? Stop by OMA and make your very own scarecrow this season. Join artist Robin Douglas to design and create a unique scarecrow from scratch with a mix of clothing, colorful decorations, and of course plenty of straw. Offered in association with the 2nd annual Scarecrow Contest provided by Oceanside Coastal Neighborhood Association and MainStreet Oceanside, this family-friendly workshop will take place in front of the museum with approved safety measures in place to ensure the maximum amount of fun.

OMA Live: Renewed, Refreshed, Reopened

Join us live from OMA for a virtual evening of celebration and the smooth stylings of Robert Parker on the piano. Capturing the excitement of our recent reopening, hear directly from artists, curators, and the OMA team as we explore fresh artwork, secret renovations, and a renewed commitment to our community and mission. The program will highlight four newly installed exhibitions at OMA: Allan Morrow: After Fires, Pamela Earnshaw Kelly: WitnessGIFTED: Collecting the Art of California at Gardena High School, 1919-1956, and Southern California Contemporary Quilts.
