Celebrate Textile Month! Join curator Beth Smith for a virtual round table with several of the boundary-pushing artists featured in OMA’s Southern California Contemporary Quilts exhibition. Highlighting their collective ability to capture a myriad of images in cloth and stitch, expect a lively discussion about the ever evolving field of fiber arts that explores each artists’ individual approach to their work, their professional influences, their thoughts on unexpected materials, and the trends they see affecting contemporary quilting.
Featured artists include Gillian Moss, Jane LaFazio, Kathy Piper, Libby Williamson and Linda Anderson.

Taste Of Art: An Art Picnic With Wayne Thiebaud
Gourmet bites and luscious landscapes are the popular subject matter of American painter Wayne Thiebaud. Using thick acrylic paint mixed with modeling paste, this workshop will produce decadent, colorful, and fantastic images that literally emerge from the canvas. Join Robin Douglas for a feast for the eyes including an inspirational slide presentation on Thiebaud’s work. All supplies for your original artwork will be provided.
Limited space is available. This event will be held onsite at OMA on the outside terrace in compliance with CDC, state, and county guidelines. Sanctioned social distancing will be followed and masks that cover both the nose and mouth are required to be worn at all times.

Plein Air Paint In
With the Plein Air Paint Out on hold for the time being, everyone can continue painting with the Plein Air Paint In! Open to artists at any level—paint the world through your window, in your backyard, or from your studio during the event’s usual time. Afterward, join OMA’s Artist Alliance with a rejuvenating drink of your choice for virtual Coffee and Conversation to share your work.

We’ve been asked to stay home, but we don’t have to be alone. Join Artist Alliance for a cup of coffee and enjoy some conversation with fellow artists. Sculptors, painters, photographers, artists of all disciplines are welcome.

Feel free to snap a photo of what you are currently working on to share with the group—especially if you participated in the Plein Air Paint In earlier in the day. Send a copy of the image prior to the event by following these simple steps:

Virtual Road Trip: Impressions Of California
Set out on the open road with Robin Douglas as your guide to an incredible treasure trove of art museums along the Southern California coast.
