Taste Of Art: Color Field

Paul Jenkins and a Morris Louis used very controlled rivers of paint to produce veils of color on canvas. No brushes were necessary to produce luxurious abstract pools of color. The luminous and powerful presentation of overlapping colors were their trademarks. Robin Douglas will explore their techniques in watercolor painting to inspire the class to create their own artwork with the same methods. Sam Gilliam’s uniquely draped canvases with splashes of color broke the rules of how to present a painting.
