Two-Day Workshop: Realism

The realistic drawing techniques used by Michelangelo all the way to Audrey Flack will be explored and practiced with Robin Douglas. Observe and draw to better know subject matter by using various techniques of rendering and then enhance, replicate, and enlarge to create unique images in this workshop. All materials provided. Two-Day Workshop: Triptychs

Robin Douglas will explore this dynamic way of storytelling used by artists like Miró, Bourgeois, Kiefer, and Rothko. A variety of materials will be available but students are encouraged to bring in photos, collage, or other artwork to incorporate into three interrelated pieces.

333’s Music At The Museum With Sue Palmer

San Diego’s Queen of Boogie Woogie Sue Palmer has amazed audiences all over the world with her unique style. Come boogie your cares away while enjoying gourmet appetizers, desserts, and specialty wines from 333 Pacific.  In 2018, Palmer released GEMS volume 1, a retrospective album of her 40-year career and was chosen to be in the premier induction of the San Diego Music Hall of Fame. Her Gems album, as well as her Motel Swing Orchestra, were both nominated for 2019 San Diego Music Awards (for Best Blues Album and Best Jazz Band respectively). She continues to do Boogie Woogie shows with the top practitioners in the world (Sonny Leyland, Wendy Dewitt, Deanna Bogart, Steve Lucky, et al) and recently launched a podcast called The Motel Swing Happy Hour.
