Exhibiting artist Francisco Eme will share the stories, ideas, and inspirations behind Francisco Eme: Future Rituals & La eco-resistencia, offering insight into a practice that bridges ancestral knowledge, science, and contemporary media, inviting guests into a slower, more contemplative way of engaging with his work as they enjoy an elegant five-course dinner by 24Suns Co-Founder and Chef Nicholas Webber.
You will be guided through the creative intentions behind each course, including the Swell Plates dish inspired by Francisco’s exhibition at OMA, which pairs smoked pork rib with locally sourced wahoo shaped into a T-bone form, unified by a fermented fennel “souherb” crafted from foraged coastal herbs. Together, the artist’s reflections and the chef’s storytelling create a layered, immersive experience, one that connects art, ecology, and Oceanside’s landscape through dialogue, flavor, and shared presence.

Black History Month Community Conversation
BEYOND THE BUS: JO ANN ROBINSON AND THE REAL STORY OF THE MONTGOMERY BUS BOYCOTT
The North County African American Women’s Association, Oceanside Public Library, and Oceanside Museum of Art are partnering to present a special Black History Month program on February 21. The free event will take place from 2:00–5:00pm at Oceanside Museum of Art.
Attendees will experience a free play reading of “The Black Women Did it” by Anita Yellin Simons performed by local actors with a special narrator, Ted Lange (“Isaac” from “The Love Boat”). Following the reading, there will be a community discussion led by Dr. India Pierce, Black Studies professor at MiraCosta College. A reception will follow.
Attendees must register for free tickets prior to the event.

Taste of Art Workshop | Suitcase Abstract Expressionism
Kick off your weekend with a bite-sized happy hour version of our renowned Studio Arts workshops. Gather with friends in an artistic space designed to amplify your creative side.
Join arts educator Robin Douglas, as we dip our toes into the work of celebrated artists over drinks and nibbles, followed by a rapid demonstration of their styles. You’ll then be guided to interpret these artists and create your own singular, spectacular work of art. We’ll help you express your unique style and ensure you have a blast doing it.
Suitcase Abstract Expressionism
Energetic, spontaneous, and thickly applied brushstrokes define Abstract Expressionism. Try it on a smaller scale in this studio experience. Create a mini Jackson Pollock or a petite Lee Krasner.
All levels of experience are encouraged to participate. OMA provides food, drinks and supplies; all you have to do is get yourself out of work, grab your friends, and have fun!

Studio Arts Workshop | The Color and Paint Application of the Post Impressionists
Join us for Studio Arts, when OMA transforms into an artist’s studio, offering skill-building workshops led by distinguished professor and arts educator Robin Douglas.
Inspired by world renowned artists, you will explore different media, techniques and subjects found in an artist’s studio. After a brief slide presentation for inspiration and context the session will continue with demonstrations.
The Color and Paint Application of the Post Impressionists
Using Cezanne, Gauguin, and Van Gogh as inspiration, this workshop will study their transformational colors and compositions. Bold and fierce surfaces will be the purpose. Preliminary exercises will lead to individual paintings.
This full day workshop held from 10:00am–2:00pm is meant to get you in the art making groove and develop new approaches to seeing and creating artworks. Whether you have a lifetime practice or are new to expressing yourself, we exchange ideas and techniques in a supportive and challenging environment. Students of all levels are welcome to stretch their creative muscles and build community with us.
All supplies and light refreshments for each workshop are included in the cost. A break for lunch and relaxed discussion will occur midday. Please bring your own bagged lunch or feel free to visit one of the restaurants close by on our provided list.

Art for All: Sounds of Nature
Sounds of Nature
Join us for Art for All this February as we take inspiration from Francisco Eme’s exhibition, Future Rituals & La eco-resistencia, to explore sound, texture, and the natural world. Participants will create their own handmade noise makers, adorning them with natural and found materials to experiment with rhythm, movement, and sound. This sensory-focused activity invites artists of all ages to think about how everyday materials can be transformed into expressive tools, and how art can be heard as much as it is seen.
Whether you’re new to art or have your own creative flow, Art for All is the time to let your imagination soar. Visit our current exhibitions to spark your creativity! During the exclusive tour and artist talk with Francisco Eme through his exhibition Francisco Eme: Future Rituals & La eco-resistencia, blending ancestral knowledge, science, and contemporary media to invite a slower, reverent reconnection with animals, urban ecology, and the spiritual forces of nature within and beyond the city. You will hear the impactful stories behind his stunning works and see the pieces on display in a new light. Then it’s on to the tasting, where you will meet 24Suns Co-Founder and Chef Nicholas Webber to enjoy a sample of the Swell Plates dish inspired by Francisco’s exhibition that will deepen your connection to the themes uncovered in his work. The tasting pairs smoked pork rib with local wahoo shaped into a T-bone form. A fermented fennel “souherb” made from foraged coastal herbs ties the elements together, creating a reflection on balance, ecology, and Oceanside’s natural landscape.
