Two-Day Workshop: The Glittering World of Gustav Klimt
MONDAY & WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4 AND 6
Mosaics, gold, and silver influenced Klimt to develop glowing, sparkling works of art that dazzled the world. Inspired by the artist’s iconic Gold Period, focus on people, landscapes, and dreamscapes as subject matter and create your own iridescent painting with Robin Douglas as your guide. All supplies for your original artwork will be provided.

Two-Day Workshop: The Watercolors of Georgia O’Keeffe
MONDAY & WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 AND 15
A master of painting in watercolor, O’Keefe completed over 200 watercolor paintings in a two year period. Explore her techniques in various landscapes, skies, and mountains by completing several studies before executing a final painting. Join Robin Douglas for a fresh look at the diverse environments of Oceanside through the lens of this signature artist, drawing some extra inspiration from the 2021 Plein Air Festival Juried Exhibition currently on display at the museum. All supplies for your original artwork including high-quality watercolor paper will be provided.

Behind The Exhibition: Mark Bryce: Love & War
Join artist Mark Bryce for a virtual discussion exploring how his exhibition Love & War sparks a contemporary dialog touching on universal topics such as love, violence, human frailty, and loneliness. Hosted by OMA’s exhibition manager and registrar Katie Dolgov, this program will tackle the technical complexities of realist painting and investigate the contemporary ideas and ideologies that influence and inspire Bryce’s virtuosic paintings. This look into Bryce’s distinctive artistic language is sure to reveal a new perspective on the vast possibilities of painting itself.

Artist Alliance members and their guests can participate in sharing and critique sessions promoting professional development. Not a member? No problem, join now or at the event!

NEW LOCATION: NOW VIRTUAL Artist Alliance is taking the quarterly critique online. Viewing is open to both members and visitors, but sharing artwork is limited to Artist Alliance and Cultural Cohort members only.
Artist Alliance members will need to snap a photo of current work and submit it ahead of time to share with the group during the Quarterly Exchange.
Send a copy of the image prior to the event by following these simple steps:
1. Make sure your image is a jpeg file and is sized to at least 1920 pixels on the longest side (just like we usually do for Online Juried Shows).
2. Save and name your file as“Quarterly artwork_[YOUR NAME]”
3. Email your image to Larry Vogel at lavogelart@gmail.comwith the subject line“OMA Quarterly Critique: [YOUR NAME]”
