As part of the 2023 Oceanside Plein Air Festival, artists will paint the beaches and iconic structures of Oceanside’s Harbor. This is a “just for fun” communal painting event and will not be judged.

Quick Paint Challenge And Easel Sale | Oceanside Plein Air Festival 2023
Open to all registered festival artists, this fun, high-energy event brings together both artists and spectators for a two-hour burst of creativity highlighting one of Oceanside’s most iconic outdoor locations,Mission San Luis Rey. With the task of completing a painting in a single sitting, Quick Paint artists are challenged to grab a brush, set up an easel, and paint en plein air for all to see. The finished creation may be purchased off the easel or in a sale at OMA through Saturday, July 22.
Judging will take place immediately after the painting concludes. If you would like to have your work considered for the Artist Alliance Quick Paint Awards please plan to stay after the event through the judging.

Guidelines for Participation
All canvases must be stamped prior to the beginning of the event.
An air horn blast will mark the start of painting at 10:00am and the end of painting at 12:00pm. At 12:00pm you may bring your artwork to the check-in tent for judging.
Maximum size: artists are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to create artwork no taller than 12″
Artwork does NOT need to be framed
Quick Paint Sale at OMA: Artwork created during the event may be taken to the museum directly after the event for inclusion in the Quick Paint Sale. Artwork will be available for purchase through Saturday, July 22, 5:00pm.
If an artwork does not sell during the week, the artist will be responsible for picking it up from the museum by 6:00pm on Saturday, July 31, or paying the shipping fees.

Mix and mingle with fellow artists at the first networking event of the 2023 Oceanside Plein Air Festival. We invite all Plein Air artists to come, along with ten Plein Air experts at the Select Artist level and the Festival’s four invited Featured Artists—Toni Williams, Geoff Allen, Gabriel Stockton, and Eileen McCullough. Get to know fellow plein air enthusiasts over a glass of wine while perusing (and purchasing!) the newest artistic interpretations of Southern California’s natural beauty.

Oceanside’s DJ Kid Riz (Rizaldy Cruz) began as a break dancer, later transforming into a hip-hop DJ. Influenced by DJ Charlie Rock and street dancers like Crazy Legs, he owns Skoolyard Records and founded the Skoolyard Movement supporting hip-hop artists and street culture since 1999. Hear him on the turntables at Street Level.
FAIVA is a talented trio uniting a crooning balladeer, falsetto RnB vocalist, and soulful guitarist. Their music embodies their Samoan heritage, infused with rich cultural traditions, and seeks to inspire unity among listeners.
Polynesian multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer, and songwriter from San Diego, CA.
Tonga Ross-Ma’u, a versatile musician from San Diego, is a music producer with a unique blend of soul, jazz, and electronic music in his releases. He’s also an educator, teaching students privately, creating online tutorials, and collaborating with music non-profit programs. Come see him perform on our terrace!
