Altering Altars represents an evolution of ideas from Oceanside artist BB Bastidas, wherein visitors experience the artist’s artistic process via a re-creation of his bedroom. The personal furnishings, ephemera, and artwork collected by Bastidas through his life have influenced his artistic responses to how he experiences the world around him. “The paintings in this show are subconscious stories of my knowledge of the world, history, and religious beliefs... my art and perceptions of myself and this world we live in is always changing and my art and room is my shrine.” Inspired by Southern California skate and music culture, Bastidas has exhibited in Los Angeles, New York City, London, France, and Australia. Altering Altars showcases works using acrylic, spray paint, watercolor, graphic design, and multimedia techniques.
