QUILT VISIONS 2002
November 2, 2002–January 5, 2003
Collaboration with Quilt San Diego
A biennial juried international exhibition, the forty-five art quilts on view in Quilt Visions represent entries from seven countries. Over 900 submissions were viewed to determine the final selections. The works reflect a wide spectrum of artistic expression from impressionistic to abstract.
Quilt Visions 2002 is a collaboration with Oceanside Museum of Art and Quilt San Diego, a non-profit organization established in 1985 to promote quilt making as an art form. OMA director, Skip Pahl notes that, "The San Diego region is home to a remarkable number of quilt makers, collectors and aficionados. We experienced a high level of interest in 1998 when OMA presented the Full Deck Art Quilts, curated at the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibitions Service and with a subsequent exhibition that featured the work of the Manhattan Quilters Guild and the story quilts of Faith Ringgold. Quilt Visions 2002 is generating the same groundswell of enthusiasm."
