JAY JOHNSON: LOOKING FOR THINGS
May 25–September 15, 2013
In Parker Gallery
The diversity of Jay Johnson’s chosen media is paralleled in his constant exploration of new modes of expression that reflect his dry humor and inventive nature. Working with found and reclaimed objects, wood, metal, clay and paper, each of Johnson’s works hint at satirical short stories derived from his imagination and the world around him. Johnson has played an active role in the San Diego art scene since the 1980s and most recently completed a major project for the County of San Diego. This exhibition presents recent work along with a sampling of seminal pieces from his oeuvre.
