HEALING JOURNEYS

Veterans And Artists Unite

Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) invites veterans and active duty military, artists, and advocates, and the entire community to explore veteran’s issues and the journey of healing through the creative arts.

OMA is excited to bring this ground-breaking work to the people of San Diego County. Healing Journeys: Veterans & Artists Unite provides a venue for these artists and new audiences to connect. We feel the power of art and the creative process offers individuals at all stages of life, regardless of background or experience, a means to find hope and healing. OMA was built on this premise. Twenty years later, OMA continues to be true to that ambition.

The work of Healing Journeys explores the continuing dynamic process of healing. In this case, the word “journey” indicates a process of traveling from one place to another or moving from one stage to another, in this case moving from pain and/or injury to healing, both physical and psychological. Visitors will gain greater understanding and appreciation for the veteran experience as expressed through veteran’s artwork and the collaborating artists’ interpretations.
