OMA's Artist Alliance is thrilled to present 29 artworks in their third exhibition at Sparks Gallery in San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter downtown. Selected by juror Sonya Sparks, many of the artworks are loosely themed to the title, Sugar Rush, including vibrant, playful, and visually striking work, such as bold, pop-inspired styles that embrace bright color and the fizzy energy of popular culture. This exhibition celebrates art that feels sweet, lively, fun, humorous, and/or impossible to ignore. This exhibition features artwork by Sabrina Adewumi, Mieko Anekawa, Scott Bruckner, David Burakoff, Kayla Bushman, Cathy Carey, Jeff Crusberg, Ellen Dieter, Kathy Dunaway, Dana Edwards, Kenda Francis, Helen Garcia, Holly Given, Laura Green, Becky Guttin, Janet Hansen, Angela Heald, Lynn Herrick, Sherry Krulle-Beaton, Laura Laslo, Alice Lemon, Kaylee Lien, Hollis Litrownik, Mike McLaughlin, Maidy Morhous, Odile Nicolette, Therese Verner, Bryn Williams, and Vincent Wray.

Sparks Gallery showcases accessible, affordable, and purposeful contemporary art and jewelry that is locally made. All artworks are original works that range from budget friendly to investment pieces. With a focus on surreal and impressionistic artwork, the gallery curates towards emotive works with strong narratives, in themes ranging from portraiture and figurative to landscape and conceptual. We love to match art appreciators and collectors with artwork that speaks to their hearts, and so their space can tell a story.

Juror Sonya Sparks is the owner and chief curator at Sparks Gallery. Sonya studied art in conjunction with obtaining her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at the University of San Diego. Sonya founded Sparks Gallery in 2013 to encourage the patronage of local artists, support local art groups and institutions, and to educate the public about Southern California artists. Sonya has curated exhibitions for multiple organizations, including, but not limited to: the Oceanside Museum of Art Artist Alliance, Allied Craftsmen of San Diego, Cannon Art Gallery (Carlsbad, CA), and the Escondido Arts Partnership. As an inducted member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society, Sonya champions ethical business leadership
