TINY CANVASES: THE ART OF NAILS
OCTOBER 5, 2019–FEBRUARY 9, 2020
Nails have been a path to artistic expression for thousands of years, evolving from a single nail color to works of art on a tiny canvas, thanks to the invention of nail enhancements and the emergence of nail artistry. First finding its home on the global fashion runways, nail artistry has become a sought-after form of self-expression in everyday life. Today’s nail art is an homage to best in class color and design, with chic lines and sophisticated enhancements personal to the individual.
Tiny Canvases: The Art of Nails celebrates the 40th anniversary of Creative Nail Design (CND™), started by Oceanside chemist, dentist, and inventor Dr. Stuart S. Nordstrom out of his garage in 1979. Beginning with the invention of a safe patented cross-linked polymer resin product for creating beautiful, lasting nail enhancements, CND is now the most technologically advanced company in the global nail Industry.
Visitors will be immersed in the work of top CND artisans and learn how they create nail designs for some of the most sought-after fashion designers in the world. They will also witness how CND has consistently shaken up the concept of beauty by creating art that is not only runway-ready and wearable but also recognized as stand-alone artworks created on tiny canvases.
This exhibition is produced in partnership with CND.
