CURRENT CLAY AND FIBER
May 9–June 28, 1998
Curated by Beth Smith
This invitational exhibition features sculptural and conceptual work from 29 of San Diego County's most gifted clay and fiber artists. Chosen for their groundbreaking techniques and innovative designs, these artists incorporate the traditions of clay and fiber with non-traditional forms. Visitors can enjoy tapestry, weaving, quilting and paper works displayed with ceramic vessels, totemic structures and figurative forms that combine mixed media with environmental elements.
Curated by Beth Smith, Current Clay and Fiber recognizes artists who have influenced other artists through their combined academic and professional careers teaching and exhibiting throughout the United States and abroad.
