OMA WEST AT THE SEABIRD
Oceanside High School students were invited to submit photography addressing the theme of railroad travel. 21 photographs by six students were selected by curator Zach Cordner, creating an exhibition that explores the important role railroads play in the development of cities. There is something very subtle, deep, and nostalgic about trains. That set of machinery on track towards a destination. Objects, people, suitcases, packages, letters, words, and stories being transported. To where? For what purpose? Who is waiting for them? These stories run through the city of Oceanside everyday, often without the local residents considering it, taking the sea breeze to a wonderful infinity. Featuring artwork by Jesse Lopez, Lesley Ojeda, Tray Seidler, Rene Silva, Sergio Tapia, and Santiago Vega.
Exhibitions at OMA West aim to strengthen symbolic meanings of Oceanside, creating narratives that define temporal moments or different places, enhance the aesthetic sense of shapes, colors, and details, and create dynamism.
