First Free Friday with Music At The Museum: Taryn Donath Duo
Explore the exhibitions and stay for the music as Oceanside’s First Friday Art Walk extends into the night at OMA with two time San Diego Music Award winner, Taryn Donath. Taryn Donath and drummer Matthew Taylor run the gamut from 60’s soul to jazz and swing, to funk and Latin to straight up boogie-woogie! These talented performers demonstrate their chemistry through improvisation and true spontaneity.
Taryn has been described as “not your typical piano player, putting everything she has into her piano playing while belting it out with a smile!”

Art Auction 2022 VIP Reception
This VIP Reception will launch bidding on over 80 artworks in OMA’s 2022 Art Auction. Be the first to acquire your favorite pieces before the virtual silent auction opens up to the general public, and secure the work you must have by having first access to the Buy It Now option. The event will also include exclusive Live Auction lots only available to event attendees. Complimentary cocktails and elevated hors d’ oeuvres will be served.
Bidding closes at 5:00 pm, Sunday, August 1. This event benefits OMA’s Exhibition Fund. Artists receive a portion of the proceeds
Auction artwork will be on view at OMA in the Preview Exhibition June 18 through August 1, 2022, during regular museum hours. Work can also be viewed online for those not near enough to view in person, and all bidding on silent auction lots will take place through a virtual bidding platform.

First Free Friday with Music At The Museum: Daring Greatly
Explore the exhibitions and stay for the music as Oceanside’s First Friday Art Walk extends into the night at OMA with Daring Greatly – a heartland rock and soul band offering stunningly soulful originals, and a broad repertoire of cover songs. Renowned for their brotherly harmonies, siblings Patrick Croome (acoustic guitar and vocals) and Liam Croome (Nord organ and piano), form the heart of the five-piece ensemble, Daring Greatly. Their high energy performances present a blend of Canadian rock and roll with American folk traditions from the 1960s and 70s. With over 1,000 shows seasoning their sound, Daring Greatly rises to the surface with the Croome brothers and additional members David Mills on guitar, Matt Spatol on bass and Brayden Tario on drums.

Community Art Day with Studio ACE
Be inspired by the exhibition James E. Watts: Storyteller during a fun, free afternoon of creativity for the whole family in partnership with Studio ACE! All materials will be supplied and no experience is necessary. Admission to the museum is free as well as all projects. Just bring your imagination!

Community Art Days: Greetings From Aztlán
Get the most out of your Free First Sunday experience at OMA by creating your very own work of art inspired by some of Oceanside’s most iconic muralists. Join artist Isabel Figueroa to explore the expressive imagery featured in her mural located on the west wall of That Boy Good BBQ and Northern Pine Brewing at 326 Home Street, and paint your own version of Quetzalcoatl, the Mesoamerican deity of knowledge. Providing a basic introduction to the materials and methods of working in gouache, we will learn to use shade, light, and color to create a masterpiece. Whether you are an aspiring professional or exercising your artistic abilities for the first time, Free First Sundays are the perfect time to be creative at OMA.

Music at the Museum: Oceanside Unfiltered
For the first Music at the Museum of 2022 OMA is “taking it to the streets” and back again in celebration of the street photography exhibition Oceanside Unfiltered. The evening will feature performances by Oside’s own, including music from Dezzy Hollow and Street Dance Freestyle by Wild7s Freestyle Krew. Music at the Museum will be bringing it back to move the culture forward with old school and funk music sets by DJ Grande. Throughout the event, Members Only Car Club will be holding it down with Lowriders parked outside.

Panel Discussion: Exploring Safe Space
Celebrate the opening of Shinpei Takeda’s exhibition Limit of Your Safe Space with an artist-led gallery tour at 6:00pm followed by a panel discussion at 6:30pm exploring diverse points of view on “safe spaces” within the context of museums. Lead by the Executive Director of Dr. Bronner’s Family Foundation Kris Lin-Bronner, the panel will dive into the meaning and importance of safe space. Hear from panelists Jens Kull (immersive media artist), Fernando Rubio (Professor of Communications at UCSD), and Kathi Anderson (Executive Director, Survivors of Torture International) on the concept of safe space in relation to marginalized groups and virtual spaces, and how creative expression can play a critical role in finding refuge from emotional and physical harm.

From Dutch masters to artists such as Frida Kahlo, Clara Peeters, Vincent Van Gogh, and Paul Cezanne, join Robin Douglas for a focus on beautifully presented food as the inspiration for enticingly created works of art. Two-Day Workshop: A Feast For Your Eyes
Artists throughout time have used food as a source for inspiration and storytelling. Join Robin Douglas for a presentation of gourmet still lifes and sumptuous paintings featuring artists like Judy Chicago, Audrey Flack, Wayne Thiebaud and Georgia O’Keeffe. Create your own mouth-watering work of art in a variety of styles. All supplies for your original artwork will be provided and artists of all levels are welcome.
