Event Details

This new series of performance work is created in direct response to current exhibitions. May through July, Alyssa Junious will be creating movement based around VALYA: SHE. During three work-in-progress events, Junious will solicit and incorporate audience response to her finished work, which will be presented in full on July 7. The first opportunity to join in the creation process of this new work happens during First Free Sunday on May 5. She will be at work in the gallery 2:30–3:30pm. Museum visitors will be offered various ways to contribute feedback, from suggesting songs for the artist to use as a score to drawing images based around what they see. Admission is free from 12:00–5:00pm to explore all of the exhibitions. Junious graduated from Oceanside High School before attending UC Irvine where she earned a BFA in dance. She is a community influencer who creates work aimed at engaging audiences to see themselves reflected in the artwork.
