QUILT VISIONS 2006: THE ART QUILT

November 12, 2006–January 21, 2007

Collaboration with Quilt San Diego/ Quilt Visions

Oceanside Museum of Art proudly presents Quilt Visions 2006, an international contemporary art quilt exhibition November 12 - January 21, 2007. Continuing its tradition of presenting art quilts from around the world, this show was organized by Quilt San Diego/Quilt Visions and is appearing at OMA for the third time. A distinguished panel of jurors selected the show from 725 entries submitted by 318 artists from 20 countries. As one of the most prestigious art quilt exhibitions of international scope, it is especially exciting this year that more than a third of the 43 artists featured are appearing in Quilt Visions for the first time.

The three jurors who accepted the challenge of selecting 43 works of art from a field of exceptional quality deserve high praise for choices that reflect the broad range of styles present in contemporary art quilts today. Jane Dunnewold, Patricia Malarcher, and Lloyd Herman have chosen a show that not only satisfies the traditional construction of quilts, but offers surprises in design and non-traditional materials.
