2019 Summer Art Camp Sessions
Week At The Living Museum
July 8–12
What happens when paintings come alive? Using improvisation, physical theater games, and storytelling techniques, campers ages 7–15 will create a living museum staged throughout OMA’s galleries. The week will end with a performance that takes the audience on a journey to experience the surprising, hilarious, and moving stories of artwork brought to life. Click here to register.
Sky-High Puppet Masters
July 15–19
Have you ever wanted to be 10 feet tall? Maybe you have an alter-ego with a booming voice that towers over the city. At this camp, campers ages 7–15 create larger-than-life doppelgangers. In the style of Bread and Puppet Theatre and the artwork of Julie Taymor (Lion King and Magic Flute), they will design and create large-scale puppets and masks. Campers will learn how to create these fantastical creatures as well as practice movement and performance techniques. Click here to register.
DIY Fashion Week
July 22–26 SOLD OUT
Campers ages 7–15 will dive headfirst into the art of creating fun and fashionable items out of their favorite used clothing. They will explore exciting new ways to upcycle t-shirts, make high-fashion outfits from newspaper, and create fun and funky household items out of a favorite pair of old jeans. Everything from how to use a sewing machine to how to edit a photo will be covered. The week will cap off with a full-scale photo shoot to learn about makeup and styling, choosing a location, how to use natural and professional lights, and how to frame the perfect shot. Email the Education Department to be added to the waitlist.
