OMA ARTIST ALLIANCE FOR THE ARTIST IN YOU
The Artist Alliance continues to seek new venues in which to exhibit
members’ artwork. Coordinator, Bev Stuber is currently working
with Jazzercise headquarters in Carlsbad to create another fabulous
exhibit. An entry form for this exhibit has been emailed to all
our Artist Alliance members. This exhibit will include more “eclectic”
art and less abstract art as shown in the past. “Plein air”
trips to paint on site at the Nature Center in Carlsbad are also
being scheduled this summer. Artwork from these excursions will
be exhibited in September at Weidner’s Nursery in the La Costa
area. Members will be notified via email of all activities as soon
as they are scheduled.
The Artist Registry has a new home in the OMA Museum Store. Members
may submit two single 8.5”x11” pages (bio & samples
of work)for inclusion in the registry. Please bring pages to the
museum.
If you’re interested in participating with other local artist
members of Artist Alliance or if you are a member not currently
receiving emails regarding these activities, please email Bev Stuber,
Coordinator, bastuber@dslextreme, or call her at 760.732.0399.
FROM THE DIRECTOR OF EXHIBITIONS:
I am pleased to highlight the continued growth of
OMA’s permanent collection. As a regional
museum, OMA is dedicated to building a strong collection
of Southern California Art with special emphasis
on San Diego. I would like to acknowledge some recent
gifts to the museum:
James Aitchison, “Santa Rosa Mountain #3,”
1977-78, Gift of Betty and Al Lantz. William Glen
Crooks, “Pacific Crossing,” 2008, Gift
of Scott White Gallery and the artist. Leon Franks,
“Untitled” [Portrait of a Young Black
Woman], before 1959, Gift of Annemarie Walther.
Randall Lavender, “The Island,” 1983,
Gift of Gina DiBona. Ante Marinovic, “Ichthys
Surgery,” 1993-94, Gift of Jeffery Laudenslager.
DeLoss McGraw, “Untitled” [Two figures],
c.1980, Gift of Cheryl Griffiths. Marjorie Nodelman,
“B-17,” 1979, Gift of Doug Simay.
With your generosity, we will to continue to make
OMA an important center for the display, collection
and study of regional art. Thank you for your continued
support.
