MEDAL
OF DISTINCTION HONOREES

John and Gail De Salvo
The Palm Club, The 2009 Museum Ball is a special
occasion to honor members of the museum and the
community who have made a significant contribution
to the success of the museum. Each year the “Medal
of Distinction” is presented at the Ball.
This year the museum will honor John
and Gail De Salvo.
The De Salvos have been deeply involved with the
museum over the years. John is a past member of
the museum’s Board of Trustees and Gail developed
the Culinary Arts Council, serving as its first
chair for five years. The Culinary Arts Council
prepares the hors d’oeuvres for each of the
museum’s preview receptions.
As plans for the museum’s new addition became
a reality, John and Gail came forward with a generous
donation. Through their company, Pacifica Engineers,
Inc., they donated all of the engineering costs
for the expansion that now connects the classic
Irving Gill building with the contemporary Frederick
Fisher designed addition.
The De Salvos continue to support cultural and civic
programs in the community having lived in Oceanside
for 17 years. A dedicated golfer, John can be found
most often on the golf course when not at work.
Gail still finds time to serve on several museum
committees, having chaired the Honorary Committee
Party for 3 of the last 4 years, and she currently
serves on the Board of Directors with the Women’s
Resource Center.
If you ask John and Gail what really matters, you’ll
get to hear about Jonathan and Olivia, their adorable
and clever grandchildren. Lucky for the De Salvos
these special young ones live nearby and provide
endless hours of joy and wonder.
